18 Young Nigerian Footballers to Train and Compete in UK This July

In line with their commitment to reward exceptional talent at the 2024 FCV Gladiators Camp, held at Grange School in Lagos, 18 promising young Nigerian footballers are preparing for a life-changing journey to the United Kingdom this July. The trip, organized by FCV International Academy in partnership with Dynaspro Sports Promotion, will provide these athletes with scholarship opportunities and international tournament experience.

Out of the 18 selected players, three standout youngsters have been awarded full one-year scholarships to study and train at the prestigious FCV International Academy, located at Grace Dieu Manor Park in Thringstone, Leicestershire. The remaining athletes will join a two-week football development camp at the academy, also by invitation.

Laim Merrick, a youth coach at FCV International Academy, reaffirmed the academy’s dedication to nurturing young talent to international standards. He also applauded Dynaspro Sports Promotion for its unwavering commitment to grassroots football development in Nigeria, particularly through its Lagos-based academy.

Echoing the academy’s enthusiasm, FCV’s Senior Manager, Kerem Karacauli, praised the raw footballing talent emerging from Nigeria. “I’m impressed with what I have seen so far. Although most of the players are still in their developmental stages, I believe they will make significant progress over time,” he noted. Karacauli highlighted key attributes observed during the camp, including the players’ natural ball control and their ability to strategize before receiving passes—qualities that mark them as high-potential prospects.

Oluseyi Oyebode, Director of Dynaspro Sports Promotion, emphasized the importance of this international exposure. He described it as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” for the players to gain elite training experience and compete on a global stage. “We are thrilled that FCV is honoring its commitment to the players. This is another chance for these youngsters to showcase their talent and compete against their peers at the tournament,” Oyebode said. He also underscored the unique value of combining education with professional football training—a core principle of the FCV Academy.

As part of their UK experience, the selected players will also participate in a tour and competitive tournament in Manchester from July 29 to August 4, under the supervision of Dynaspro Sports Promotion. This initiative aims to further their development, broaden their horizons, and prepare them for future careers in football and beyond.
