180 Nigerians Stranded in Libya Repatriated Home with IOM and NEMA Support

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have successfully repatriated 180 Nigerians stranded in Libya.

The returnees arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Wednesday evening, aboard a charter flight operated by Al-Buraq Airlines.

The group included 67 adult females, 55 adult males, 24 female children, 18 male children, and 16 infants.

Upon arrival, the Nigerian Immigration Service conducted biometric profiling to ensure proper documentation and support for the returnees. Various government agencies were also on hand to provide humanitarian assistance aimed at facilitating their reintegration into society.

NEMA’s statement emphasized the IOM’s vital role in supporting stranded Nigerians and highlighted the organization’s ongoing commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of migrants.

This latest evacuation serves as a reminder of the continued efforts to assist those in vulnerable situations abroad.
