In the build-up to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, South Africa’s Hugo Broos said that the Bafana Bafana are not scared of the Super Eagles or other African sides.
Before hosting Zimbabwe a week later, Bafana Bafana will play as guests of the Nigerian Super Eagles on June 3.
Following leaders Rwanda by one point, the Broos-led sides are ranked second on the log with two matches played, while their opponents from June, Nigeria and Zimbabwe, are ranked third and fifth, respectively, with two points each.
In a chat with Sunday World, Broos said after the team’s impressive 3-3 draw against Algeria in a friendly game, that his ambition is to qualify South Africa for the 2026 World Cup and doesn’t see any team stopping his dream.
“We played against a very strong team, but I do not think there was much difference between the quality of our game and the quality of the game in Algeria,” Broos said per Sunday World.
“That means we have progressed in the last few months. We already showed that in the AFCON, and we did it again against Algeria. So, I don’t think we have to be afraid anymore of playing against any team in Africa
