Teniola Aladese Takes the Lead in Upcoming Psychological Drama ‘Gone’

Directed by Omotola Oke and Anjola Aluko, and penned by rising screenwriter Winner Achimugu, Gone is a gripping psychological drama that peels back layers of memory, trauma, and long-buried family secrets.

The film boasts a powerful ensemble cast led by Teniola Aladese, alongside Paul Nnadiekwe, Kelechi Udegbe, and Tolu Odewumi. At the heart of the story is Damola Akinola, a young man who, for years, has received mysterious letters and gifts on his birthday — all from his estranged and missing father.

But on his 25th birthday, everything changes. A skeleton is discovered in the family’s septic tank, triggering a police investigation helmed by Detective Christie Obi, brought to life with striking emotional depth by Teniola Aladese.

As the case unravels, so too does the fragile fabric of the Akinola family, exposing painful truths and suppressed memories that threaten to tear them apart.

Producer Izzy Besta praised Aladese’s magnetic performance:

“We knew we needed someone with incredible range to play Christie Obi — someone who could embody both the authority of justice and the emotional nuance of a woman watching a family fall apart. Teniola didn’t just play the role — she lived it.”

Gone has earned a nomination for Best MultiChoice Talent Factory Film at the 10th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA), set to take place in May 2024 at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos.

A powerful blend of mystery and emotional drama, Gone explores the cost of silence, the shadows of the past, and the lengths families will go to protect — or destroy — one another.
