Tinubu orders DSS to immediately vacate EFCC’s office

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Department of State Security Services (DSS) to immediately vacate the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The order is coming hours after DSS officials had stormed the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road in the early hours of Tuesday, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from accessing their workplace.

The DSS had stormed the premises, claiming ownership of the building.

Although the service had earlier debunked the report as “not true,” spokesperson for the Service, Peter Afunanya confirmed that the DSS denied its operatives entry into their Lagos office.

Following the heightened tension between the two agencies, the president through his media officer, Tunde Rahman, issued a statement at the State House Presidential Villa on Tuesday evening instructing the DSS to evacuate the premises immediately.

The statement partly reads, “The President gave the directive when reports that DSS officials stormed the EFCC office located on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos on Tuesday, preventing officials of the anti-graft agency from accessing their workplace, was brought to his attention.

“The President said if there were issues between the two important agencies of government, they would be resolved amicably.”

The DSS, however, dismissed insinuations of a dispute between the two agencies.
