UTME score: Ezekwesili demands independent investigation of candidate

A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has called for an independent investigation into the claims made by Ejikeme Mmesoma, an Anambra candidate who was accused of forging her 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination result by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

The former minister made the call in a statement issued via her verified Twitter handle on Monday.

According to her, “This saga between Mmesoma Ejikeme and @JAMBHQ requires an Independent Tech investigation to uncover all facts.”

She added that it is legitimate to ask for a forensic inquiry to assist shed light on what actually transpired after hearing what she has to say in this video. I’ve been in touch with JAMB’s Registrar.

She said, “An Independent investigation would turn this curious episode into a Learning Opportunity for @JAMBHQ and everyone, especially students. I frankly see no downsides in asking a team of Independent Technology folks to investigate and publicly share their findings. Let’s do it.”

JAMB had alleged that Ejikeme had manually inflated her UTME score from 249 to 362, used this score to secure a sum of N3 million scholarship from Innoson Motors, and was about to receive the award from the Anambra state government before she was discovered.

But Ejikeme in a video released on Monday evening claimed she printed the “fake” result from the JAMB portal.
