Taraba Govt. partners with U.S. to improve mining, agriculture, education

Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, says his administration is ready to enhance the lives of inhabitants in all parts of the state’s economy in order to make sure that development reaches all corners of the state.

The governor made this announcement yesterday while meeting with the US Embassy in Abuja to talk about potential opportunities for collaboration, commerce, and support for the state.

In order to fully realize the state’s potential for growth and development, Kefas outlined the administration’s priorities and the steps already taken to reposition the state, particularly in crucial industries like agriculture, health care, mining, and solid minerals, which will require the assistance of the American government and private sector participation.

The required free education policy at the basic and secondary levels, he continued, is intended to lessen the burden on parents and to take a daring stance against the problem of insecurity by tackling it from the bottom up.

He argued that many disputes, including those that the free education program that includes books, uniforms, teachers’ welfare, and infrastructure is intended to address, had their roots in poverty.

Kefas also requested support from the embassy in the areas of gender equality, funding and capacity building for renewable energy sources, insecurity, environmental protection, and climate change.

The embassy representatives committed to fostering closer cooperation and facilitating connections with US businesses and the government in the mentioned domains in a mutually beneficial manner.

They also recommended regional cooperation amongst nations so that American assistance through USAID and similar organizations can benefit a larger population.
