The Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar has embarked on consultations with key stakeholders of the defence industry.
Only recently, having taken the reins of power, Abubakar paid courtesy visits to the former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and the former Chief of Defence Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai at their respective homes in Abuja.
This is contained in a statement by the Director, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry, Victoria Agba- Attah on Monday.
According to the statement, the visit was to seek professional advice as he looks to make improvements towards ensuring safety of citizens and restoring security across the country.
Briefing the former Nigerian leaders, the Defence Minister intimated them that the visit was borne out of the need for him and his Minister of State to consult and tap from the wisdom and wealth of their experience to execute the onerous responsibilities in the Ministry.
Badaru assured of his apparently unflagging enthusiasm to meet with elders and former Nigerian leaders on how best to tackle the current security challenges facing the nation.
The Defence Minister commended the former Head of State, General Abdulsalam Abubakar GCFR who was also the head of ECOWAS special envoy to Niger Republic for his gigantic efforts to restore peace and overcome the current political impasse in the former French colony.
Responding, the leaders described the Minister as a great achiever while also wishing him well in his new office.
