Campaign council Congratulate Ododo’s victory, seeks support for governor-elect

Ahmed Ododo has received congratulations from the Independent Campaign Council of the Ododo/Joel Campaign Organization on his win in the Kogi State gubernatorial election.

On Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission proclaimed All Progressives Congress candidate Ododo the victor of the November 11 governorship contest.

As to the results announced by INEC, Ododo received 446,237 votes to win the election.

The campaign council characterized Ododo’s victory as authoritative in a statement signed by Media Director Jacob Edi on Monday, citing the large margin of votes he received to defeat rival candidates.

The council urged Ododo’s detractors to work with the incoming governor to advance the state. It said that the interests of Kogi take precedence above those of sections or individuals.

The statement read, “ICC therefore calls on Ododo’s co-contestants to join hands with the governor-elect to build the state for more progress and development insisting that the interest of the state supersedes any sectional or individual interest.

“ICC also commended outgoing governor Yahaya Bello, for ensuring a peaceful election, contrary to predictions. It equally praised Kogi residents for their orderly conduct during the polls.

“ICC commends Governor Yahaya Bello whose untiring efforts brought about a peaceful election as against the prediction of political opponents. Equally worthy of commendation are the good people of Kogi state who conducted themselves to ensure a violence-free election.”

The campaign council urged Ododo to swiftly unite the state, harness resources and consolidate development gains.

“ICC urges governor-elect, Alhaji Ododo, to take urgent steps to unite the state, harness the abundant human and material resources in the state and roll out his plans to develop the state to consolidate on the gains of Governor Bello,” the statement added.
