The incumbent Governor of Bayelsa State and governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Douye Diri, has been declared the winner of the State governorship election held last Saturday.
Faruq Kuta, the returning officer, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, announced Diri winner of the poll at the collation centre of the election on Monday.
With 175,196 votes, Diri defeated All Progressives Congress candidate Timipre Sylva, who received 110,108 votes, and the Labour Party, with 905 votes.
