Atlanta Mayor Proclaims November 18 ‘Davido Day’
In a resounding acknowledgement of Nigerian-American singer David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, the Mayor of Atlanta, Andre Dickens, has officially declared November 18 as “Davido Day” in the city.
This recognition comes in the aftermath of Davido’s headline A.W.A.Y Festival at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Mayor Dickens conveyed his appreciation for Davido’s significant contributions to the entertainment landscape, describing him as a global icon in the music industry. In an official message sent to the singer on his birthday, November 21, 2023, the Mayor expressed gratitude for Davido’s multifaceted role as a singer, songwriter, producer, business leader, philanthropist, and community advocate.
He commended the artist for using his platform to give back to communities both in the United States and across Africa.
The Atlanta City Council, through an official statement, proclaimed November 18, 2023, as “Davido Day” in the City of Atlanta. The resolution, presented on behalf of the citizens, acknowledged Davido’s captivating influence on audiences worldwide and his remarkable career achievements.
Notably, the recognition extended beyond the city limits, as the Fulton County Board of Commissioners also honored Davido by declaring November 21, 2023, as “Davido Appreciation Day” in Fulton County, Georgia.
The Board, recognizing Davido for his outstanding contributions to the music and entertainment industry, praised his influence and proclaimed the special day in appreciation of his talents.
