Dutsinma Attack: NSCDC Makes Deployment To Enhance Security Across Schools In Katsina State
The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi has instructed that personnel of the Corps be massively deployed in and around schools and forests in Katsina State.
This pragmatic approach comes on the heels of the recent operational success recorded by the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) when it foiled a mass abduction attempt by suspected armed bandits at the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) permanent site in Dutsinma Local Government Area of Katsina State.
According to a Statement by the National PRO of NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, the move by the Commandant General aims to nip in the bud any frontal attacks orchestrated by bandits and the like as witnessed in Dutsinma on Thursday, November 23, 2023.
“The swift response of the NSCDC operatives stationed in the university premises as part of the Safe School Initiative measures thwarted the planned sinister move of the bandits to kidnap farmers from neighbouring communities.
“The bandits, who were armed to the teeth, arrived on 10 motorcycles and initially abducted six people. But the swift response of the men of the NSCDC made it possible to rescue three women while the outlaws took away two men and one boy from Yarrumfa village.”
In the meantime, the operatives of the NSCDC with the support of the local vigilante groups are currently combing the forest to rescue the abducted victims and rid the forest of the bandits.
Babawale further added that an inter- security agency collaboration is at play to frustrate the activities of criminals within the University and its environs.
“The Commandant General has also ordered the Katsina State Command to collaborate with sister agencies and synergize with the university authorities, Nigeria Army and the police to work together to thwart any further planned attacks.”
