The Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has applauded the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, over its dogged determination to protect critical assets mostly petroleum pipelines from vandals.
Governor Abiodun showered the encomiums on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, when the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Ahmed Abubakar Audi paid him a working visit in Abeokuta, the State capital.
As contained in a Statement issued by the National PRO of the Corps, Babawale Afolabi, the State Governor attributed the uninterrupted distribution of petroleum products across Ogun State and beyond largely to the efforts and gallantry of the officers and men of the NSCDC in conjunction with other security agencies.
“Although it is a collective effort, the efforts of other security agencies cannot go unnoticed. As you are all aware Ogun State is like the economic hub and gateway of the country largely because of the proximity to Lagos the financial capital of Nigeria.
“Key and major oil pipelines that come from Lagos also pass through the Ogun axis and the anti-vandal unit of the NSCDC has also been alive to the responsibilities in keeping the pipelines safe from the vandal”
The career-defining academic brilliance and wealth of experience of the Commandant General (CG) earned some praises, as it has kept schools in Ogun State safe with the FG’s safe school initiative, just as the Governor further appealed for more NSCDC Agro Rangers in the State to keep the State’s forest and plantation Safe.
In his remarks, the Commandant General, Ahmed Audi lauded the governor and the state for the support and good working atmosphere and relationship being enjoyed by the NSCDC in the State. He promised the governor that NSCDC would continue to liaise with other security agencies in the State for the continued security of lives and property in the state.
He assured the governor that he will continue to build on the good foundation laid by the Ogun State-born pioneer CG of the NSCDC, Ade Abolurin which is to reposition and continue restrategizing to make sure that NSCDC always meets up with global expectations.
