Nigerian Music Artists Make Rolling Stone’s Greatest Album All-Time List
Three albums from Nigeria were included in Rolling Stone, an American music media publication’s most recent list of the 500 greatest albums ever recorded.
Positioned at number 330, Burna Boy’s Grammy-nominated album “Twice As Tall” (released in 2019) was characterized as a project that highlights his captivating variety through his exploration of Afro-fusion.
Fela Kuti, the pioneer of Afrobeat music, peaked at number 402 with his critically acclaimed and financially successful 1975 album “Expensive Shit.” The album featured Fela’s daring social satire in the blockbuster hit song “Water No Get Enemy.”
The third Nigerian on the list is influential Juju maestro King Sunny Ade, whose 2003 album “The Best of the Classic Years” is listed at number 465. The album includes a selection of some of his best pieces from 1967 to 1974.
