Veteran Yoruba Actor, Olofa Ina Passes Away

Chief Adedeji Aderemi, a veteran Nollywood actor and producer popularly known as Baba Olofa Ina, dies at the age of 73.

According to reports, the 73-year-old actor passed away in his hometown of Ede on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Chief Adedeji Aderemi, commonly referred to as Baba Olowe, was the Sobaloju of Edeland until his death.

The industry was greatly impacted by the renowned character in Yoruba Theater today. He co-founded the Olofa Ina Theatre Group in 1972 with notable people like Dasofunjo, Erinfolamin, Gbolagade Akinpelu, and the late Oyetunji of the Esinnla compound in Ede. Late Oyetunji, was his theater tutor.

The Olofa Ina Group achieved notable milestones in the Theatre Industry by spearheading the staging of epic histories portraying Yoruba Warlords from the 18th and 19th centuries.

Tales of Ogedengbe Agbogungboro of Ilesha, Aare Kurunmi of Ijaye, Kakanfo Afonja, Balogun Ibikunle, and Basorun Ogunmola were included in these productions.
