West Brom Coach Eager for Ajayi to Return
Carlos Corberan, the manager of West Brom, expressed his excitement over Semi Ajayi, a defender for the Super Eagles, rejoining the team.
Ajayi and Grady Diangana, a midfielder for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, during the just finished Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nigerian defender advanced the Super Eagles to the championship game with excellent play.
After the competition, Corberan stated that Ajayi and Diangana needed to go back as soon as possible to support his team in the last stretch of the season. “They have accepted the international opportunities,” Corberan told the Express & Star [12 February].
“But as soon as they finish they need to come here because the team needs both players right now.
“Hopefully, Semi comes back faster and ready to compete. I cannot tell you how long it (Bartley) can take but right now if you lose two weeks, you lose four games. So even if the injury is two weeks we are talking about four games and a half, that’s the pity for injuries in these games.”
Ajayi, alongside his Super Eagles teammates were given national honours and also apartments and plots of land in Abuja.
