
The governorship candidate for People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) for Edo State, Asue Ighodalo, has received his certificate of return from the party leadership on Tuesday.
Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagun, assisted by other party officials, presented the certificate to the candidate in an event which took place at the National Executive Committee Hall of the PDP National Secretariat, in Abuja.
In his brief remarks, Damagun,Damagun, challenged the candidate to take steps to rally around those who contested against him in the primary, earn their trust, and ensure he works with them for the success of the party at the forthcoming elections.
Secretary of the Primary Election Committee, James Manager, who stood in for the chairman, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, said the assignment was tough but that after all was said and done, the exercise was a huge success.
He said, “To the media, there is only one PDP. We are not aware of any parallel primary.”
On his part, the national leadership of the PDP in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, commended all leaders, critical stakeholders and members of the Party in Edo for the peaceful and successful conduct of the Governorship Primary Election in the State.
