Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq, QPR battle for Stanley Nwabali

Following his impressive performance in the recent Africa Cup of Nations, Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is the target of many clubs’ sides, notably Queens Park Rangers of the English Championship and Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq of the Saudi Professional League.

The Super Eagles advanced to the AFCON final thanks in large part to Nwabali’s composed and confident performance; however, they were barely beaten by Ivory Coast. Clubs in Belgium, France, Germany, and Saudi Arabia took notice of him after his outstanding performance.

Nwabali is a long-term option for Kaizer Chiefs of South Africa, who are looking to replace their elderly goalkeepers.

However, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Saudi club Al Ettifaq and English Championship side Queens Park Rangers are leading the chase for his signature.

“Nigeria GK Stanley Nwabali, on the list of different clubs as Al Ettifaq in Saudi and Queens Park Rangers in UK have enquired about him. His South African club Chippa United will consider his future move in the next months.”

Nwabali’s current club, Chippa United, is open to selling him for the right price, meaning a transfer could happen in the coming months.
