A Kano High Court sitting in Miller Road has sentenced a Chinese national, Frank Geng-Quangrong to dead by hanging for killing his girlfriend in Kano in 2022.
In a ruling on Tuesday, Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji said the accused was found guilty of the offence, and then convicted and sentenced to him to death by hanging till he breaths his last.
Geng-Quangrong was arrested and remanded by the police for culpable homicide in September 2022 over the murder of his 22 year old girlfriend Ummukulsum Buhari, at her residence in Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso LGA of Kano.
After the prosecution proved the alleged murder beyond reasonable doubt, the court ruled that Quandong, 47, was found guilty of the offence of culpable homicide punishable with death under Section 221 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State and convicted accordingly.
The mother of the 23-year-old Nigerian woman revealed that the Chinese national first pushed her down when she opened the door for him after he had banged on it several times.
She immediately rushed to her daughter’s room where he stabbed her to death.
The deceased was buried around 10am last Saturday, according to Islamic rites.
