Bella Shmurda, a Nigerian singer, has urged his peers not to undermine Afrobeats with disparaging statements.
Burna Boy had said that Afrobeats lacks “substance”, stressing that he does Afrofusion and not Afrobeats, while Wizkid on his part disowned the genre, saying he doesn’t want to be boxed as an Afrobeats artiste.
However, Shmurda has said Nigerian artists should respect Afrobeats.
He said that he has remained quiet on the matter for a while as he doesn’t want to become embroiled in the dispute.
