‘It Was Very Difficult’ — Boniface Reflects on Injury Induced Absence

Victor Boniface, a forward for Bayer Leverkusen, has thought back on his period on the sidelines.

In the DFB Pokal semi-final victory over Fortuna Dusseldorf on Wednesday, Boniface made his debut for Die Werkself this season.

In the 66th minute, the forward replaced Patrick Schick.

After undergoing surgery in January to treat an adductor problem, the Nigerian international was out of action for around three months. The forward stated that it was difficult for him to be sidelined for a long time

“To be honest, it was very difficult, you know. I got injured in preparations to represent my country and the timing was bad because Leverkusen really needed me, but I had my teammates, I had the coach, and everyone in the club was there for me, so it was good,” the striker told the club’s official website.

The striker has so far registered 16 goals and seven assists in 25 appearances across all competitions for Leverkusen this season.
