Former Katsina State Governor Alhaji Ibrahim Shema has made a significant political move by officially joining the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Shema, who previously served from 2007 to 2015 under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), completed his registration at the Shema Ward party office in the Dutsin-ma Local Government Area.
His switch to the APC was marked by a warm reception, with the state’s party chairman, Alhaji Sani Aliyu-Daura, personally issuing him his membership card.
Aliyu-Daura expressed gratitude to Governor Radda and former Governor Aminu Masari for their roles in facilitating Shema’s defection.
In Dutsin-ma, Alhaji Jabiru Abdullahi-Tasuri, Chief of Staff to Governor Radda, presented Shema with his membership card on behalf of the governor.
Governor Radda hailed the move as a significant milestone for the APC in the state, emphasizing the reunion with Shema as a prominent figure from the opposition.
Shema himself stated that his decision to join the APC stems from a desire to contribute to the development of both Katsina State and Nigeria as a whole.
Reacting to Shema’s defection, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, succinctly summarized the impact, noting, “PDP’s big loss in Katsina, APC’s big gain.”
