As part of efforts towards attaining the 35% Affirmative Action for women, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria has pledged to partner with the office of the Special Adviser to the Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, on Women and Affirmative Action.
The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the SMEDAN, Charles Odii, made the promise on Monday while receiving the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women and Affirmative Action, Mary Berje, who came on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.
The National Gender Policy formulated a 35% Affirmative Action in Nigeria in 2006 and this policy demands that 35% women be involved in all governance processes.
SMEDAN’s DG, said the new partnership would further boost the actualisation of the goals and the campaign for women’s empowerment, which will also enhance the country.
Odii said for better collaborations, a state council will be inaugurated to be headed by the former governor and other critical stakeholders.
She listed key areas of partnership as product enhancement schemes, networking opportunities, access to finance, and business development services.
