Governor Calab Mutfwang has lifted the curfew imposed on Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, five months after its initiation following violent attacks on communities.
This Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, who made the announcement in a statement disclosed that the governor decided to lift the curfew after consulting with the state security council and noting a return to normalcy in the affected communities.
The lifting of the curfew aims to allow residents to resume agricultural and economic activities.
The statement emphasised the governor’s encouragement for community leaders to continue fostering dialogue, trust, tolerance, and better understanding across different faiths and ethnicities.
Governor Mutfwang also expressed deep gratitude to the security agencies for their sacrifices and tireless efforts in addressing the issues.
He urged them to continue monitoring and maintaining law and order across the state’s seventeen local government areas.
