President Bola Tinubu Condemns Attacks in Katsina State, Orders Swift Justice

President Bola Tinubu has vehemently condemned the recent surge of attacks against citizens in Dutsin-Ma and Kankara Local Government Areas of Katsina State. Describing the assaults as grisly and sinister, the President pledged to intensify efforts to secure the nation and eradicate terrorists and other perpetrators of violence.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu directed security agencies to pursue the assailants relentlessly and ensure they face justice. The President also extended his condolences to the families of the victims, as well as the government and people of Katsina State, offering prayers for the souls of the departed.

This condemnation follows a tragic incident where bandits armed with dangerous weapons attacked Gidan Boka village, killing 20 villagers and injuring two others. The Katsina State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, reported that a police patrol team responding to a distress call was ambushed near Kurmeji village via Yar Goje.

The ambush led to the deaths of three police inspectors, one corporal, and two members of the Katsina Community Watch Corps. ASP Aliyu detailed that the patrol team, initially dispatched to Gidan Baki village, redirected their route upon discovering the actual target was Gidan Boka village. Upon reaching Kurmeji village, they were ambushed, resulting in a fierce firefight. The bandits subsequently killed five more people while fleeing through Dan Nakwabo village.
