“Nollywood star Sharon Ooja has opened up about her enchanting journey to love with husband Ugo Nwoke, describing their whirlwind romance as nothing short of miraculous. In an exclusive interview with Bella Naija during their traditional wedding on June 27, 2024, she revealed the unexpected path that led them together.
Ooja recounted, ‘My love story is almost like a miracle. I had just come out of what I thought was the worst heartbreak of my life, and I was filming when my sister mentioned that a friend wanted to talk to me. At first, I wasn’t interested.’
Despite her initial reluctance, her sister passed her number to Ugo, who turned out to be persistent and charmingly witty. ‘I was avoiding any new connections at the time, but he was really smart. I remember thinking, “Who is this person?” We didn’t talk much initially,’ Ooja recalled.
Their conversations eventually deepened over months, with Ugo’s persistence catching her attention. ‘After speaking at length one day, I realized I was starting to like him,’ she shared. ‘Months passed with him continually reaching out, and I thought, “This guy is really something.” We had some really sweet conversations, and one day, a conversation just clicked. We spoke for about three hours, and that’s when I thought, “I think I like this guy.”‘
The relationship swiftly progressed from there. ‘I went away for a while and noticed he hadn’t called for two days. I asked why, and he said, “You mentioned you were going out to have fun, and I didn’t want you to be single anymore.” We dated for just two and a half months before getting engaged in the third month. Two months later, we were married,’ Ooja concluded.”
