FCT Police Confirm Rescue of Three Persons from Collapsed Building in Garki

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of three individuals trapped in the collapse of a building on Monday night at Unity House, Area 11, Garki.

In an official statement, FCT Police Command spokesperson Josephine Adeh reported that in response to a distress call, the FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, swiftly deployed multiple patrol teams to the scene. These first responders quickly cordoned off the area to facilitate rescue operations.

The incident occurred when a four-story building adjacent to the Westbrook Hotel in Garki unexpectedly collapsed, trapping numerous people inside. Early reports indicated the possibility of casualties, with two individuals initially seen being pulled from the rubble.

However, the police statement clarified that three victims were successfully rescued from the collapsed structure and were immediately transported to a hospital for urgent medical attention.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the FCT Development Control have been alerted to the situation. Their personnel have since taken over the management of the scene to ensure a comprehensive response to the incident.

The FCT Police Command’s rapid response and coordinated efforts with emergency services highlight their commitment to public safety and efficient crisis management in the Federal Capital Territory.
