SSANU, NASU Vow To ‘Hit The Ground Running’ For Tuesday’s Protest

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) have declared that they would not be canceling their planned demonstration on Tuesday over unpaid salaries for its members.

The demonstration was organized by both unions to demand that the unpaid wage arrears be paid.

There is no turning back from the protests, according to NASU National President Makolo Hassan, despite expectations that the government would intervene and stop the event from happening in one of their branches throughout the country.

According to him, the Federal Government has failed to meet the unions’ requests after their warning strike many months ago.

He said after Tuesday’s protest, the unions will take the demonstrations to Abuja.

According to the NASU chief the “The two unions will provide the next line of action and the next line of action will be after the protests.

The bodies had embarked on a warning strike in March to press home their demands. But deliberations between them and the Federal Government afterward have failed to address the issues.

In June, NASU and SSANU gave the Federal Government a two-week ultimatum to meet their demands and threatened to shut down campuses nationwide if they were not fulfilled.
