Veteran Nigerian comedian, Basketmouth has addressed why he criticized Wizkid while recognizing Davido’s wedding’s impact on social media.
The comedian during Davido and Chioma’s wedding on June 25, lamented difficulty in promoting his Canadian tour because all the attention was on the wedding.
He went on to add that even Wizkid’s social media drama didn’t get much attention because everyone was focused on Davido and Chioma’s wedding.
His shade at Wizkid didn’t sit down well with fans of the singer who threatened to “cancel” him.
Speaking on the incident Basketmouth explained that his shade at Wizkid was just “a marketing technique.”
In his words;
“Wizkid is my guy…that was a marketing technique. But I knew it was going to be edgy.
“I knew it was going to hit people. I knew they were going to get upset and they did exactly what I wanted them to do. It worked.”
