Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has revealed his attempts to encourage Manchester City midfielder Rodri to join the Spanish giants.
This follows Toni Kroos’ departure at the end of last season, which left a vacuum in Real Madrid’s midfield.
During an interview with El Partidazo de COPE, Carvajal discussed his efforts to persuade his Spain teammate to leave the English club and return to his hometown.
“Yes, without a doubt, I tell him every day: ‘Leave Manchester, there is no sun, come to Madrid because we need you, and you are from here in Madrid,’” Carvajal said.
Despite Carvajal’s persistent efforts, Rodri remains committed to Manchester City.
“He says: ‘Yes, well, I have a contract, there are no clauses here.’ It gives me pause, it gives me delay, but it would be the signing, without a doubt. Being Spanish, in Madrid… I think it would fit perfectly,” Carvajal added.
Rodri has been a standout defensive midfielder in recent years, and his exceptional performances have made him a top contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
Since joining Manchester City, the Spaniard has secured four Premier League titles, one Champions League, and an FA Cup.
