President Bola Tinubu has instructed the country’s security agencies to synergize their operations to effectively improve on the gains achieved so far.
The President gave the instruction during a routine meeting with Nigeria’s security at the State House, Abuja, during which he was briefed on the current security situation.
The National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Director-General of the Department of State Service, Alhaji Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar; Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, and other relevant Heads of security establishments attended the meeting.
President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the explicit improvement in the maintenance of the country’s security and urged the various security organizations to also explore psychological ways of combating crime.
Briefing newsmen afterward, Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, said visible proof had shown a declining rate of insecurity in the country.
“The President is delighted to see our achievements, but he has asked us to strengthen our unity and the strategies we deployed in attaining success”, he said.
He said the successes recorded in the maintenance of security were orchestrated by security organizations’ resolve to work in unison.
In an interview, the Chief of Defense Staff, CDS, General Christopher Musa, said the military was strategizing to restore full oil production, targeting 2.1 million barrels-per-day.
He implored those involved in infrastructure destruction and crude oil theft to desist voluntarily before they were forced to retreat.
“For the criminals, those that are hell-bent on destroying our infrastructure, stealing our crude for whatever reason, the days are numbered. They should be rest assured that we’re coming after them”, he warned.
He stressed the need for collective effort to achieve success, urging all stakeholders, including states and communities, to work together to restore full production.
