Vehicle Hits Gates at Irish Government Buildings
A man has been arrested after a vehicle was driven into the gates of the Irish Attorney General’s Office in Dublin.
Gardaí (Irish police) were alerted to a single-vehicle road traffic collision on Merrion Street Upper at approximately 02:30 local time on Friday.
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act.
Irish broadcaster RTÉ has reported that at least three gates at Government Buildings, including that of the Department of the Taoiseach (Irish PM), were struck by a van.
The scene remains preserved for a technical examination on Friday morning.
The arrested man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin city.
