Artistes shouldn’t have standards on how they dress – Tems

Singer Tems has said that there shouldn’t be a standard on how artistes dress.

Speaking in her recent interview with Essence Magazine, she noted that artistes should express their individual styles, insisting that people’s uniqueness is what makes them special.

Tems further explained that her choice of dressing is a representation of her sincerity, rather than an attempt to convey a certain message.

“You should be yourself even if something else is expected of you. You win, automatically, when you are yourself, no matter what that looks like. That’s why there’s variety.

“We are different and are not all meant to be the same. And I know there is a standard, but there shouldn’t be a standard for what people should dress like if they are artistes, or what people should dress like if they are women.

We all seem to be different, in my opinion. Requirements shouldn’t exist. You shouldn’t have to comply with any form of expectation or demand regarding how you should dress.
