Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, stated yesterday that the price of petrol from his new refinery will be determined by the Federal Executive Council (FEC), led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking at a briefing in Lagos, Dangote emphasized that the pricing arrangement is designed and approved by the FEC, and once finalized with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the product could be available in the market imminently.
“The pricing is an arrangement which is designed and approved by the Federal Executive Council,” Dangote said. “As soon as it is finalized, which President Tinubu is pushing for, and once we conclude with NNPC, it could be today or tomorrow, we are ready to roll into the market.”
He also highlighted that the quality of petrol from the Dangote refinery is competitive with that from other refineries globally.
Regarding the timeline for petrol supply, Dangote mentioned that an announcement would be made following a meeting with NNPC. He noted, “Our products will start going to the market as soon as this is finalized. Our gasoline can be in filling stations within the next 48 hours, depending on NNPC.”
The exact timeframe for when petrol will begin to flow from the refinery remains contingent on final arrangements with NNPC, but Dangote assured that preparations are in place to meet market demand swiftly.
