Presidential Spokesman Ajuri Ngelale Proceeds On Indefinite Leave Of Absence

The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngelale has announced he is taking an indefinite leave of absence due to worsening medical issues affecting his immediate family.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Ngelale revealed that his decision followed extensive consultations with his family and is aimed at addressing pressing medical concerns at home. He has also informed Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, of his temporary departure.

Ngelale has stepped down from his roles as Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen. “On Friday, I submitted a memo to the Chief of Staff to the President indicating my need to take an indefinite leave of absence to address these critical medical issues,” Ngelale stated.

He acknowledged the impact of his absence on the ongoing operations of his office but emphasized the necessity of prioritizing family health at this time. “While I fully appreciate that the ship of state waits for no man, this agonizing decision—entailing a pause of my functions as the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity and Official Spokesperson of the President was taken after considerable deliberation,” he explained.

Ngelale expressed hope for a return to his roles once circumstances permit and requested privacy for himself and his family during this period.
