Borno State High Court Judge, Justice Haruna Mshelia has been released by his abductors, after spending two months in captivity.

Recall that Justice Mshelia, alongside his wife, driver, and a police security guard were abducted by armed men on Monday, June 24.

According to sources close to the situation, Justice Mshelia was travelling with his wife, a senior judicial officer, from Biu to Maiduguri when they were ambushed by a heavily armed group between the Borno and Yobe states.

The Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Maiduguri branch, Hamza Zannah, confirmed to Newsmen that the judge was released in good health.

“He is now resting in a secluded location after reuniting with his family, but his wife and driver are still in captivity.

“We pray for their unconditional release,” he added.

Mshelia, a former private lawyer, was appointed to the Borno State Judiciary in May 2012.

He was one of two High Court judges selected from private practitioners in the state.

His colleague, Mohammed Fadawu, was elevated to the Court of Appeal in July.
