Federal High Court launches online affidavit system

The Federal High Court (FHC) has officially launched its electronic affidavit (e-affidavit) system to enhance convenience for litigants and other users.

In June, Chief Judge John Tsoho integrated e-affidavits into the court’s practice directions, aligning with global best practices.

During a facility inspection on Friday, Godwin Longe, Deputy Chief Registrar of the Lagos Federal High Court, noted that the new technology currently processes only non-case-related affidavits. “Affidavits filed to support a case will still be handled manually due to the specific requirements involved in such affidavits,” Longe explained.

He added that the online system allows individuals to procure certain types of affidavits without needing to be physically present.

Head of the court’s ICT department Agwu Charles provided details on how the public can utilize the new system. “Affidavits for loss of items, age declaration, change of name, and similar matters can now be processed via portal.fhc.gov.ng by following the instructions provided,” Charles said.

He encouraged users to log in to the site at portal.fhc.gov.ng to access the service.
