The 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has called on the Nigerian  Government to provide urgent support to the victims of the recent flooding in Borno State. In a heartfelt message posted on his X handle, Obi expressed profound sadness over the loss of lives and the severe disruption caused by the flood in Maiduguri.

Obi, who previously served as the Governor of Anambra State, highlighted the critical need for unity and collective efforts to rebuild and restore the affected communities. He reflected on the immense suffering experienced by the flood victims and urged both individuals and authorities to come together in providing assistance.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives and the widespread disruption in Maiduguri, Borno State, which has recently faced a devastating flood disaster,” Obi wrote. “It is heart-wrenching to consider the families who have lost loved ones, the homes that have been destroyed, and the livelihoods that have been upended.”

He emphasized the importance of national solidarity during such trying times, urging both federal and state governments to mobilize resources and deliver aid to those in need.

“In moments like these, it is crucial for us to come together as a nation. I urge the federal and state governments to do everything within their powers to offer support and relief to those impacted by this natural disaster,” Obi stated.
