FG Calls For More Investment In Creative Economy

The Nigerian Government has called on the private sector to collaborate in harnessing Nigeria’s vast pool of talent to enhance the country’s economic growth.

This appeal was made by the Minister of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, during a meeting with corporate entities and members of the art community in Lagos on Wednesday.

Musawa outlined several strategic initiatives aimed at integrating the creative sector into the national economy, emphasizing that smart partnerships, targeted growth in GDP contribution, skill development, and job creation are critical areas for collaboration. The goal, according to the minister, is to position Nigeria as a global cultural hub.

“We need to unify our country and showcase our culture to the world through the expression of our art,” Musawa stated. She highlighted the significant impact of the entertainment industry but also stressed the importance of making other subsectors, such as visual arts and theatre, more viable and integral to the economy.

The minister urged stakeholders to work together to ensure that no aspect of the creative sector is overlooked, thereby adding value both to investors and the nation. “Our ministry is eager to support and develop our young talents, giving them the necessary resources to thrive,” she added.

Musawa’s vision is to leverage Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and creative potential to drive economic growth and international recognition, fostering a vibrant and inclusive cultural landscape.
