The Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri has reported that Nigerian international Raphael Onyedika has signed to a five-year deal with Turkish Super Lig team Galatasaray, indicating that the player is close to joining the club permanently.
Less than a week remains until Turkey’s summer transfer window closes, and Galatasaray C has been busy bringing in new players to help them defend the league title they won the previous year.
The club have boosted their ranks with quality players like Gabriel Sara, Elias Jelert, Ismail Jakobs, and Victor Osimhen, who joined on loan from Napoli.
The Lions, as they are fondly called, are now looking to bring in Onyedika from Club Brugge, having agreed personal terms with the Nigerian.
According to Tavolieri, the Turkish champions have made an offer of €5m for the defensive midfielder, but the offer was rejected by the Belgian club.
“Galatasaray reached an agreement on personal terms with Raphael Onyedika on a 5-year contract!” Tavolieri wrote on X.
“The Turkish club made a bid to Club Brugge that Blauw & Zwart has rejected, but Onyedika now wants to join the Süperlig club and asked the club to find an agreement.”
Onyedika joined Brugge two years ago for €9.5m and has become an integral part of the club. The 23-year-old has played five matches so far this season for the Belgian club.
It is believed that Brugge will let Onyedika leave for a fee in the region of €15m as they hope to make a significant profit from his sale considering that he still has three years left on his contract.
