Army Chief Taoreed Lagbaja Has Not Resigned – Spokesman

The Nigerian Army has firmly refuted claims circulating online that the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja, has resigned. An online report suggested that Lagbaja had submitted his resignation letter to President Bola Tinubu, following an alleged assassination attempt on his life.

The report further claimed that the supposed resignation had caused confusion within the military hierarchy. However, the Director of Army Public Relations, Maj Gen Onyema Nwachukwu, has dismissed the claims as “fake news.”

In response to the inquiry, Maj Gen Nwachukwu said, “It is fake news; please disregard it.”

The Army was appointed on June 19, 2023, by President Tinubu to succeed Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya.

Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, has assumed office as the 23rd Army Chief with a pledge to discharge his responsibilities with fairness to all.
