Akwa Ibom State to Fly Flag at Half Mast in Mourning for First Lady Patience Umo Eno

In a heartfelt gesture of collective grief, Akwa Ibom State has announced that the Nigerian flag will be flown at half mast across all government buildings and facilities following the passing of Patience Umo Eno, the wife of Governor Umo Eno.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, who described the loss as “sad and painful.”

Patience Umo Eno passed away early on Friday, September 26, 2024, at a hospital, surrounded by family. The state Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, shared details about her passing, emphasizing that she died peacefully following an illness.

The statement, titled “Unexpected Sunset,” expressed profound sorrow: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Patience Umo Eno.”

The family has submitted to the will of the Almighty and is seeking the prayers and support of the public during this challenging time. They have requested privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
