The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has conveyed its heartfelt condolences to Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, following the tragic passing of his wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno.
The announcement of her death was made by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, who confirmed she passed away in the early hours of Friday, September 26, 2024, at a hospital, surrounded by family.
In a statement titled “Unexpected Sunset,” Ememobong expressed the profound sorrow of the family: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the Wife of the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Umo Eno, following an illness. She passed away peacefully in the presence of her loved ones.”
The family has submitted to the will of the Almighty and is seeking prayers and support during this difficult time. They have requested privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Governor Umo Eno expressed gratitude to those who have supported the family and reassured the public that his commitment to serving the state remains steadfast despite this immense personal loss.
In response, the NGF, through its Chairman and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, expressed shock at the sudden loss. “The NGF sends its heartfelt condolences to His Excellency the Governor, the family, and the people of Akwa Ibom on this devastating loss of a precious jewel,” the statement read.
The forum extended prayers for the repose of the late First Lady’s soul and for strength for the Governor and his family during this challenging time.
