Governor Sanwo-Olu Calls for Unity in Rebuilding Lagos and Nigeria

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has called upon all citizens and residents to unite in the effort to rebuild the broken foundations of Lagos and Nigeria as a whole.

His remarks came during an Interdenominational Service organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, held at the Chapel of Christ The Light, Alausa, Ikeja, to mark the 64th National Independence Day Celebration.

Represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Sam Egube, Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of the celebration’s theme, “Rebuilders of Broken Foundations,” stating it offers a vital opportunity for everyone to contribute to national recovery. “We should not only focus on our rights but our responsibility, that is when we can assist in the total rebuilding of our nation,” he said, highlighting ongoing transformative plans aimed at boosting the economy and creating opportunities for future growth.

In his sermon, Bishop Jeremiah Adeyemi of CMAG International Ministry echoed this sentiment, referencing scripture from Isaiah 58:12 and Zechariah 1:18. He prophesied that divine intervention would aid in Nigeria’s reconstruction, urging Lagosians and Nigerians to humble themselves through prayer and unity. “By this time tomorrow, a shower of blessings shall reign on Nigeria, and our story will change for the better,” he declared.

Commissioner for Home Affairs Ibrahim Layode assured attendees that the state government is committed to ensuring citizens benefit from democracy through various people-oriented initiatives.

The service was attended by various dignitaries, including the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religion (Christian), Very Rev. Adebukola Adeleke, a body of Permanent Secretaries, military and paramilitary representatives, and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria, among others.
