AFCON Qualifier: Libya resumes training to arrive in Nigeria October 7

In a bid to get ready for their Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against Nigeria on October 11, 2025, at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, the Libyan national team got together again on Monday.

The Mediterranean Knights trained for the first time in Tripoli under the direction of their new coach, Nasser Al-Hadhiri, and his assistants, Aboubaker Harak and Tunisian Akram Al-Hammami, according to Libya Al-Ahrar Channel.

On October 7, the team is anticipated to land in Abuja and then go to Uyo for the Super Eagles match.

Meanwhile, Nigeria coach Augustine Eguavoen has yet to name his squad for the doubleheader, with the corresponding slated for October 15 at Martyrs of February Stadium in Benghazi.

Nigeria made a bright start to the series with a heartwarming 3-0 win over Benin Republic on September 7 before battling Rwanda to a goalless draw in Kigali three days later, setting them atop Group D with four points.

Libya bring up the rear with one point secured in their opening day’s 1-1 draw against Rwanda at Martyrs of February Stadium on September 4 in Benghazi before being edged 2-1 away to Benin Republic six days later at their adopted home ground, Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan.

The Cheetarhs of Benin are second with three points, followed by Rwanda with two points.
