Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, has presented cheques totaling N48,681,738.48 to the families of 22 deceased police officers as part of a welfare initiative.
This event, held on September 3, 2024, was conducted on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
The cheques were awarded to the families of officers who lost their lives in active service, as well as to those injured while performing their duties.
This gesture aims to provide support to the families of fallen heroes and assist injured officers, reinforcing the commitment to improve the welfare of police personnel.
In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, Commissioner Onuoha expressed condolences to the families, acknowledging the sacrifices made by the deceased officers. He reiterated IGP Egbetokun’s dedication to enhancing the welfare of all police officers, whether currently serving, retired, or deceased.
Onuoha encouraged accident victims to focus on their recovery and urged the families of the deceased to utilize the funds to improve their living conditions. The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude for the support and pledged to use the funds responsibly.
