The in-form striker for Pyunik, Yusuf Olaitan, now wishes to be called “senior man,” a nickname that is commonly associated with Kelechi Iheanacho of Sevilla and Nigeria.
The 32-year-old former junior international for Nigeria believes that his stellar play for his Armenian club—where he has five goals and two assists in five games this season—justifies the nickname.
He took to his Instagram page on Thursday to share his delight at his splendid run with the side, laying claims to the name after his team defeated FK Van 3-1 in a Premier League Game Week 10 fixture at Harentsavan City Stadium, Charentsavan, a development that will definitely be frowned on by Iheanacho, who is currently in the Nigeria camp for Friday’s AFCON qualifier against Libya.
“Let’s take a stroll back to the real game celebration. Now you can put some respect on my name (Seniorman). It’s been God, strength, a healthy lifestyle, and most importantly, the support of my team. ALHAMDULILAH ROBIL ALAMEENAH. Thanks to everyone out there too who makes this possible. May we all live to more of God’s grace and many great celebrations,” stated Olaitan, who has been hitting the heights in Armenia with Pyunik since joining them from Ararat-Armenia in 2022. He scored 21 goals and provided seven assists last season for Pyunik.
