NNPP Faction Disowns Kwankwaso as Party Leader Amid Internal Turmoil

Some factional members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have publicly disowned Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as the party leader.

Leading the anti-Kwankwasiya campaign from the party secretariat in Minna, Niger State, the factional National Chairman, Gilbert Agbo, described Kwankwaso and his supporters as significant threats to the party’s progress and existence.

Agbo asserted that Kwankwaso’s recent suspension by the National Working Committee in Lagos automatically terminated his membership and stake in the party. He also supervised the symbolic burning of the Kwankwasiya group’s iconic red caps at the state secretariat, a move intended to clearly dissociate the faction from Kwankwaso’s leadership.

Additionally, Agbo indicated that Governor Kabir Yusuf of Kano State would be called before the party’s disciplinary committee for allegedly failing to adhere to the party’s principles and supremacy.

In response, leader of the Kwankwasiya Movement in Niger State Danladi Umar Abdulhamid labeled Agbo’s claim to the chairmanship as illegal. He argued that Agbo’s actions were motivated by personal interests rather than those of the party.

Abdulhamid reaffirmed that Kwankwaso remains the national leader of the NNPP under Ahmed Ajuji’s leadership.
