Nigeria to Modernize Immigration Process with E-Gate Technology

The Nigerian Government has announced a plan to streamline Nigeria’s immigration process through the introduction of e-gate technology, a key part of its initiative to modernize border management.

This development was revealed on Monday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, via a statement on his official Facebook page.

During a presentation on the newly designed integrated border management system for the Nigeria Immigration Service, the minister emphasized the importance of enhancing national security while facilitating seamless travel in and out of the country. He explained that the e-gate technology is an automated border control system aimed at easing the entry and exit of travelers at immigration checkpoints.

“At the heart of this system is our e-gate facility, which automates vetting processes and reduces wait times for passengers entering Nigeria,” Tunji-Ojo noted.

By leveraging technology and collaboration, the government seeks to create a secure, efficient, and traveler-friendly environment that supports Nigeria’s economic and social growth. “Our vision is to establish a modern, effective, and efficient immigration service, confidently manned by well-trained and motivated personnel,” the minister added.

As the government moves forward with the implementation of this system, Tunji-Ojo reassured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to advancing border management and addressing emerging challenges to strengthen national security.
