Kebbi State Government Shuts Down College of Health Technology Amid Violent Student Protests

The Kebbi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of the College of Health Technology in Jega following violent protests by students. During a press briefing, Commissioner for Higher Education Isah Abubakar Tunga announced that the closure was necessary to prevent further unrest.

The protests were sparked by multiple grievances, including the lack of course accreditation, poor sanitation, and ineffective leadership. Tensions escalated as angry students targeted the Provost, setting fire to his house and vandalizing his car.

Commissioner Tunga assured the public that a committee would be established to investigate the incident and hold those responsible accountable.

The college is set to remain closed for three weeks to a month as the situation is assessed.
